šŸ•ÆļøWeek One of A Supple Advent: A Holly Jolly Start!

ā€‹

Dear Reader,

Itā€™s hereā€”our first Supple Advent Sunday! ā™« ā™Ŗā™«ā™Ŗ ā†šŸ•Æā˜•ļøŽ

This week, we begin our journey with two beloved carols: The Holly and the Ivy and Have a Holly Jolly Christmas. These songs invite us to balance inner reflection with festive connectionā€”preparing not just our homes but also our hearts.

I understand that for many, the traditional carol lyrics hold deep significance, especially in celebrating Christ. My goal this season is to honor everyone's unique spiritual journey. By offering both traditional and universal versions of these carols, I hope no one feels left outā€”whether you find meaning in the traditional words or connect with a broader, universal spirit of love and warmth.

Hereā€™s what youā€™ll find in this weekā€™s blog post:

  • Singing Exercises: Begin with two gentle exercises to help open your voice and embody warmth and resilience this Advent. Youā€™ll also find a second video that applies the exercises directly to the melody of each song.
  • Karaoke Tracks: Iā€™ve provided karaoke versions of each song with the new universal lyrics, as well as karaoke tracks with the traditional lyrics if you prefer. Itā€™s all about enjoying the songs and singing from your most authentic, heartfelt place.
  • Reflection Section: After singing, take a moment for reflection. Together, letā€™s focus on creating spaces of warmth, comfort, and connection.

As we prepare during this Advent, letā€™s focus on creating spaces of warmth and opennessā€”both for ourselves and others.

Iā€™d love for us to share our journeys. Reflecting together is how we stay connected and learn from each other.

  • How are you preparing your heart and home this season?
  • Does singing The Holly and the Ivy help you connect to inner peace and resilience?
  • How does singing Have a Holly Jolly Christmas make you feel about connecting with your community?

Feel free to comment below the blog post or reply directly to this email. Your journey matters to me, and Iā€™m here to support you. Make sure to check back each week for new Supple Advent Sunday reflections, carols, and exercises as we sing our way into the light of the New Year.

Bonus Enjoyment: After your reflection, Iā€™ve included videos of Kingā€™s College Choir singing The Holly and the Ivy and a jazzy version of Michael BublĆ© singing Holly Jolly Christmasā€”for your enjoyment and inspiration!
